What do you know about Verona, better known as Shakespeare's Verona?
I've been five or six times, and everytime I am there, no matter how busy I am, I always find at least an hour to go to touch Juliet's boob. No matter if it's a sunny day or it's raining or it's freezing... it's like a ritual for me, even if the line in front of me seems endless.
I'm 100% sure you all know about Romeo & Juliet, the most tragic love story in the world and the pagan temple of love in the city, Juliet's house.
Located not far from the Arena, in Via Mazzini, the ouside of the place everyday is full of tourists from all over the world, who can't resist to visit the inside, go to the balcony, kiss, take pictures as memory, touch the statue and leave a love message on the wall.
Over there, in fact, you can leave your love wish and the love locks on Juliet's gate, where you can leave yours after having written your initials and the date. There is also a small shop inside the house where you can buy all the romantic souvenirs and have your love messages engraved on jewelry.
It's a continue pilgrimage of people of all ages who go there to ask the heroine to make their wish come true. They want to find the so-called "right one", they want to reconnect to their lover, they want to live happily every after.
If you are wondering why they pray Juliet, you should think about the fact that she killed herself in order to be with her Romeo forever. That means, even if she is only a fictional character, she knows something about love. Not to mention the fact that the story is based on a true event happened in Verona long time before Sir William decided to write what later became a masterpiece of British literature.
Love is definitely in the air in Juliet's courtyard, and that's why the crowd thinks that touching the boob of the statue located just right behind the balcony, can be seen as a romantic gesture.
You will be surprised by finding out the statue so shiny: for hygienic reasons, it gets polished everyday, as well as St. Peter's toe in Rome (I'll write about it in another post).

In case you see a red mailbox on the left side of the wall, don't be stingy, write a note asking for a blessing or a love advice and include your address too: you could be lucky enough to get a letter from Juliet... (another real fact about Verona! Find out more HERE).
If you are planning a visit in the city, don't forget to take the infamous groping picture!
